LEARN

People from different income levels often live separate lives, making it hard to understand each other’s experiences. Our VOIS trainings build the cognitive understanding needed to see the complexities of poverty and lays the groundwork for empathic engagement in work, volunteerism, and advocacy.

POVERTY IQ

Looking for more than a poverty simulation? Our Poverty IQ Trainings are immersive, hands-on learning experiences that go beyond simulation to unpack the real complexity of poverty and how we might begin addressing it. Rooted in respect for the dignity and expertise of our neighbors with lived experience of poverty, these sessions offer a deeper understanding of the barriers they face—and the solutions our community can create together.

In our trainings, we define and contextualize poverty and surface the barriers that often remain hidden.

  • DEFINE. Challenge the way we currently think about and define poverty.
  • CONTEXTUALIZE. Develop a clear picture of what poverty actually looks like in our own community.
  • SURFACE. Uncover the barriers that make it difficult for people to move out of poverty.
